Versatile Two Piece Set

1/30/2016

I'm sure everyone's been noticing the two piece sets that have recently been popping up in most retail stores. The higher end brands like Free People and For Love and Lemons have released some beautiful, but not very affordable versions of these laced sets. The price tag might make you run in the opposite direction when admiring these beautiful pieces, but luckily these sets can be very versatile. Worn together as a set these are meant for fancy events, such as a wedding, but when you wear the pieces separate and pair them with clothes that are in your closet already you can get a very different look.

I'm wearing a two piece set that I found at Nordstrom Rack from Free People. Since I am a full time college student, and I work for everything I own, I usually try to find affordable clothing pieces that can be staples in my wardrobe. When I found this set at Nordstrom Rack I about died and went to heaven. I have been eyeing these two piece sets for quite sometime and I knew it would make a perfect blog post. With this versatile two piece set, I put together three different looks. The first one is the actual set and what I would pair with it. It's a very simple look because the main focus is the beautiful lace details. I didn't want any chunky necklaces or overly detailed shoes to take away from that. It needed a pop of color so I decided to use this yellow bag that I found at a second hand shop two summers ago in Pennsylvania. The two strap, simple black heels are seriously so comfortable. I love these heels and it took me awhile to find a pair that I could use for everyday outfits. They're the perfect height and color. These were a TJ Maxx find from awhile ago but I know these shoes are sold almost anywhere. The details for the two other looks will be below.

In this second look I dressed it down, but not too much. I kept the Free People skirt on for this outfit. This look would be perfect for a casual date or a fun shopping day downtown with some friends. Stripes are one basic that I can't seem to get away from. I find myself constantly buying tops with stripes, so don't be surprised if you see a large amount of stripes in my outfit posts. This black and white striped, long sleeved crop top is from Zara. Once again, this look needed a pop of color so I grabbed my red Steve Madden bag that I actually bought for my trip to Europe. It's not one of my everyday bags, but it's still a great way to add some color to any outfit. My statement silver necklace is from Forever 21 and my flats are another Nordstrom Rack find by Lucky Brand. And of course I had to stop and get my favorite iced vanilla latte from Augie's Coffee House in Downtown Riverside. Which ended up being a great idea because it matched my outfit quite nicely!

For this last outfit I put together an everyday look that you might find me wearing to my classes or just running around town. I kept on the Free People crop top for this look. I threw on my favorite High Top converse, added my distressed Brandy Melville backpack and some thrifted high waisted shorts. To finish off this look I added some stacked arm candy for a little more detail, but overall it's a simple and easy look with this beautiful, laced crop top.
